Steve Banks

Steve is President of Triskele Logistics - (http://triskelogi.com/). He is a highly respected supply chain solution expert with over 17 years of experience working with clients to develop rail solutions that cost effectively meet their needs. Steve has worked for Canadian Pacific Railway, Trican Well Service Ltd and Altitude Publishing with a career that includes Sales & Distribution Manager, Senior Business Analyst, Train Planning, and Logistics Specialist. Steve is a North American railway expert and has extensive supply chain experience moving products from production to final delivery in Grain, Agri-Products, Intermodal and Oil and Gas shipments.

Steve has managed customer service portfolios including fleet management, contracts, customs issues, interline shipments and shipment tracking with systemic solutions. While at Canadian Pacific, Steve planned Bulk Train origins for a variety of commodities, managed over 30 Fertilizer customers with an annual budget of over $43M and managed shipments for some of Canada’s largest grain customers.

Steve has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary, and has been a project member of the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council for Occupational Standards since 2014.

Scott Exner

Scott is a Partner with the MLT Aikens LLP law firm (https://www.mltaikins.com/about/) and has represented landlords, developers, financial institutions, insurance companies, municipalities and national and multi-national corporations on real estate matters. He also has significant expertise in the agribusiness sector, particularly with widely-held companies, providing advice on corporate finance, securities and corporate governance. As one of the founding partners of the MLT Aikins Calgary office, Scott has been extensively involved in the firm’s growth in Alberta since 2002.

He has acted for junior and senior issuers and underwriters on private placements and public offerings for companies in the agribusiness, real estate, steel, information technology and natural resources sectors in Canada and the United States. Scott has extensive involvement in the agricultural industry, particularly the grain handling sector, and has been active in securing legislative change to promote growth and development in value-added agribusiness. He has significant experience in mining law and the acquisition of mineral rights in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Scott is an Executive Member of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch – Food & Agribusiness Section, a Member of the Calgary Stampede International Agriculture and Agri-Food Committee and previously served as Director and Vice-President of Epilepsy Canada and as President of Epilepsy Regina Inc.

Terry Klassen, RPP, MCIP, CSLA

Terry is an ecosystem-inspired planner, urban designer, landscape architect with 30 years of solid leadership experience in managing collaborative, visionary public realm design processes. He has facilitated a broad spectrum of multi-jurisdictional master plans consistently winning community approval. His holistic view of future cities potential correlates with the law of accelerated returns. His work connects with people, mobility challenges, technology advancements, and regional infrastructure investment. His openness and engagement attitude demonstrates mapping with responsive cities that are modeling change true to their core nature and social /cultural value. He has an excellent track record of integrating innovative program management and best fit mixed use systems thinking. His combined business, environmental planning, and design consulting/development management portfolio includes diverse projects of all scales.

Terry is currently serving on the Board of Directors of Calgary River Valleys and Sustainable Calgary. Terry’s community advisory participation includes working with Safer Calgary, Active Neighbourhoods Calgary, and the Active and Safe School Travel Committee. Terry is a senior associate with Sustainability Resources in Calgary. He is a member of the Placemaking Leadership Council, an initiative of Projects for Public Spaces based in New York. Past design advisory and statutory development review work has unlocked innovative possibilities with insight driven by analytics rationalizing successful performance outcomes.

Larry Lorimer

Larry Lorimer has over 4 decades of experience in the property/facility management industry. Using his ability to build current and future trends to current environments, he assists companies in meeting the future, elevating their communication and productivity in collaborative work environments. He ensures that a facility contributes to the organization by assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and their impacts. Larry's expertise in Sustainable Strategic and Tactical Planning helps to streamline organizations for optimum performance; his expertise in facility management, property management, security management, facility condition, life-cycle, and reserve fund analysis manages capital planning, energy management and operations management in the most cost effective and efficient manner; and, his expertise in project management and tenant services focuses on the core business objectives Through his experiences in all major areas of real estate, Larry is credited with numerous accomplishments specifically pertaining to effective facility management, operations management, project management, cost management and quality control.

Keith Lue MBA

Keith Lue is a venture capital executive with 12 years of experience financing companies in a wide range of industries, including information technology, manufacturing, biotechnology and telecommunications. He is a co-founder of the Toronto Venture Group and a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Keith uses his extensive investment experience to help companies maximize their growth potential and build well-structured and profitable businesses. He has significant experience in technology commercialization, including business development, strategic planning, and organizational development and planning.

Dr. Nancy Markley, Ph.D.

Nancy Markley is an accomplished executive with a Ph.D. in molecular biology and 15 years technology development and management experience in the healthcare industry. Nancy has experience at all levels of an organization from start-up to public company, and brings exceptional operational execution in finance, business development, sales and marketing, R&D, operations, regulatory, manufacturing, and supply chain management. Nancy held senior management positions with SemBioSys Genetics Inc. - Director of Business Development, and Botaneco Specialty Ingredients Inc. – Managing Director, before co-founding Tech Avenue Ventures, a company focused on accelerating commercialization of high value consumer and medical products. Nancy is President and CEO of MPowRx Health & Wellness Products Inc. Nancy also manages Markley Advisory Group, a firm focused on providing enabling advice, non-dilutive fund raising and operational expertise to innovators and small- to medium-sized companies in the healthcare industry.

Dr. Murray McLaughlin B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D.

Dr. Murray McLaughlin was involved in raising the capital to establish Foragen, the only early seed-stage venture fund focused on  advancing agricultural technologies in Canada. He spent seven years as president and CEO of Foragen Technologies Management Inc., stepping down in July 2005. Murray has held various positions in private, government and non-profit sectors, including adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan, president of Ontario Agri-Food Technologies, deputy minister of Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food, president of Ag-West Biotech Inc., and several assignments with ELANCO. Today he manages McLaughlin Consultants, a firm focused on providing sound advice to the agriculture, food and life sciences.

Trevor Pizzey, P.Eng.

Trevor is the Director of Agribusiness for Frontline Industrial Solutions Inc. (http://www.frontlineindustrial.com), where he provides grain processing subject matter expertise. He combines 25 years of engineering, project management and operations leadership experience with a passion for supporting exceptional people in the delivery of industry leading services, products and processes. Having grown up in a family owned retail farm inputs and special crops business, Trevor has a deep understanding of agribusiness entrepreneurship. He possesses the ability to quickly define objectives, identify and capture growth opportunities, and enhance operational effectiveness. His skills as an inclusive communicator facilitate project success and create sustainable client value. Trevor consults primarily on engineering and operations related projects, but also supports clients with M&A activity, organizational planning, market assessments, and food safety systems.

Earl Smith P. Ag.

Earl Smith, a professional agrologist, provides financial and management consulting and training to commercial scale farms and agri-businesses across the Prairie provinces. His areas of focus with clients include financial analysis, strategic and business planning and succession. Earl has over 35 years of business and agriculture experience including 13 years with RBC Royal Bank. His last role at RBC before returning to private consulting in 2007 was Manager Agriculture & Agri-business, Prairies.
